Savin Engineers performed all structural design, shop drawing review and construction management services for one of the largest swirl concentrator facilities on the East Coast. The project included the construction of two 22-foot diameter swirl concentrators and a chlorine contact tank.

Because the swirl concentrators and CSO treatment facilities are located within an existing headworks building at the Yonkers Joint Wastewater Treatment Plant, a critical element of the project was to maintain plant flows and integrity of existing structures during construction. Savin provided an extremely detailed demolition and construction-phasing plan in order to accomplish this.

All reinforced concrete design was performed in accordance with American Concrete Institute Codes, ACI 318 – Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and ACI 350 – Concrete Sanitary Engineering Structures.
